Disposition by 'Ali: "He was the most generous of heart, truthful of tongue, softest in disposition, and noble in relationship. He was first set eyes upon him feared him, but he who associated with him loved him. Those who described him would say: I have never seen before or after him anyone similar to him, peace be upon him."
How lucky those people to see the Messenger of Allah in person. How lucky there were to live during His time and witnessed every second of His life. I'm so envious! but i do believe, whatever happens in this world according to Allah plans and decision. Allah not only knows but also determines everything. Thus, if i were the one to be chosen to live during His time, i might be someone who against Him, nazubillah! but who knows? Therefore, i should thankful for being Muslim and i still have much to be thankful for. For the hidayah, for the rahmah and so on.
And today as any other day of 12 Rabiulawal every year, we celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW; remembering the Prophets good deeds, his teaching, his wisdom and how he forgave his most bitter enemies.
The Celebration
History has mentioned that the first tribe to hold the ceremony was Bani Ubaid Al-Qoddakh who called themselves 'Fati-miyyah' from Syiah Rafidhah. Usually the celebration included reciting history of Rasulullah SAW and a celebratory feast. That's what i know.
But, if people ask me how do you celebrate Maulidur Rasul I'd say I'll take up fasting on Monday.
Abu Hurairah related that the Prophet SAW said, “I observe this day in fasting because it was a day in which I was born, and on it the revelation of (Al-Qur’an) was inaugurated.” (Muslim).
On the other hand, processions which took place in almost part of the country for me is still fine so long it isn't come with riak/takabbur/show off and ensure that it is within islamic guidelines. I don't remember when was the last time i join procession but what i could remember is the ladies at that time were wearing fitted baju kurung with too bright color and coupled with strong smell of perfumes which made my head spin. Ya Allah, where are you actually planing to go? This is Maulid Nabi not a social party ok. I never again go to such procession unless i am instructed to do by mom or dad to accompany the youngest to go. Just to make sure they are ok. If i refuse to go, it would be unfair for them. However, from time to time i'd try to explain what is good and what is bad by giving perfect example based on what they have seen. As the eldest i do not want them to have misconception on what they are doing now. Let them understand well the concept of celebration. Not just go there, talking-chating-walking without knowing the wisdom behind.
Thus, in this very moment, i would like to wish everyone Selamat Menyambut Maulidur Rasul 1430H. "Upon you is to follow my sunnah and the sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs after me"-Sunan Abu Dawud.
Enough said here.
